Celebration of fine arts at Little Miami High School

MORROW, OH (FOX19) - Little Miami High School is making plans for the return of "Rhythms & Renderings," a district-wide fine arts festival on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

School bands and vocal groups will perform and a sampling of two-dimensional art from all grades will be available for viewing. The day will also feature art demonstrations, face painting, a graffiti wall, food and more. The event is free to the public.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to hear a performance by the LM Select Women's Chorale, who won a silver medal at last year's World Choir Games in Cincinnati.

The Little Miami Band Boosters will host a pancake breakfast the morning of the event from 8-11 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Cost is $5 per person.

Mason High School seniors win national art and writing awards

Mason High School seniors win national art and writing awards

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason High School seniors Elizabeth Bransford and Brittany Dodson have been awarded National Silver Medal Scholastic Art and Writing Awards from the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.

Bransford’s painting Rhythm of Nature is one of several of her works that qualified for nationals. Regionally, the painting won a Gold Key and was nominated for the American Visions Award – a best in show award. It was also featured on the 2012 Spring District Art Show invitations and posters. Bransford is taught by Audrey Gorman.

Dodson won two Silver Medals at nationals. Both of her pieces – also regional Gold Key winners -- are a collection of ceramic vessels. Her Red and Grey Dinner Setting features a number of beautiful plates and bowls. Her Variations Bowls is a group of two small, but finely crafted bowls. Dodson is taught by Karan Witham-Walsh.

Several free community events scheduled for Macy's Arts Sampler 2013

(FOX19) - Macy's Arts Sampler, presented by ArtsWave, celebrates theater, dance, museums, and music throughout the region in more than 20 Tri-State neighborhoods. The annual community campaign, which raised $11.2 million dollars in 2012, supports local arts organizations.

Over 60 free performances and/or activities will be offered in the following neighborhoods: Clermont County, Columbia Tusculum, College Hill, Covington, Eden Park, Fairfield, Mason, West Chester and Wyoming

The 2013 ArtsWave campaign, the largest united arts fund in the country, runs from February through April, and the goal is $11.5 million.

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - Bethel A.M.E. Church, making and celebrating African-American History, presents Moments With Martin.  The dinner and dramatic presentation of The Life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place on Saturday February 23 at the historical church.

MASON, OH (FOX19) - No auditions, no try-outs, and no bad feelings; everyone is welcome to participate in this drama program at Mason Community Center.

Drama Kids International® is a developmental program that uses drama activities to build creative thinking and literacy skills for children ages 6 to 10. Your child will learn positive social skills such as effective team interaction, leadership, confidence, and public speaking through speech training, creative movement, structured short plays, and dialogue development.

Classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays from January 18 through February 22. The cost is $85 for Premier members, $100 for Basic members, $125 for Mason residents, and $150 for non-residents.

Production of Macbeth at Mason high school

Production of Macbeth at Mason high school

MASON, OH (FOX19) - The Mason high school theater department will put on performances of William Shakespeare's Macbeth in the school's Studio Theater.

Macbeth will feature a cast of over 20 students and features sophmore, Ryley Arnold as Macbeth, and senior, Kathyrn Albers as Lady Macbeth as well as, Michael Knight as MacDuff, and Emily Stretch, Sheila Ragavendran, and Leah Hall as the three witches.  The show is stage managed by Kayla Burns, assistant directed by Hailey Spencer and assistant technical directed and set designed by Jacki Miller.
