Pete Wagner Band to perform public "Moonlite Gardens" show at Otterbein | Arts & Culture
TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Ever dream about dancing in the moonlight? Take a trip down memory lane in a recreation of Moonlite Gardens’ ambiance and mood at Otterbein Lebanon Senior Lifestyle Community, featuring twinkling lights, fabulous music by the Pete Wagner Band and dancing from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, in the multi-purpose room in the campus center.
Otterbein residents are free and guests are $5 each at the door. No reservations are required, but organizers ask party-goers to sign the guest book. Otterbein is on State Route 741 about a half mile north of Route 63.
Many know and love Coney Island, where Moonlite Gardens was born in the 1920's. In 1936, Coney Island covered over 128 acres of ground and attracted thousands of Cincinnatians to enjoy the rides and listen and dance to the big band sounds of Ozzie Nelson, Glen Miller and Tommy Dorsey.
The Pete Wagner Band has played big band dances at Coney Island's Moonlite Pavilion for nearly four decades. The Pete Wagner dance bands and combos have played thousands of wedding receptions, parties, and affairs entertaining many including five presidents: Kennedy, Nixon, Reagan, Bush and George W. Bush. It has played at countless city and park concerts, plus hundreds of parties. American Financial Corp. has hired the Pete Wagner Band for 21 years to perform at its annual Christmas party. The band has performed alongside national headliners. Some of the many stars include Chicago, Faith Hill, Wayne Newton, Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra, Lionel Ritchie, Natalie Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble, and Kenny G.
