DP&L customers offered two light bulbs when one is purchased

DAYTON (FOX19) - Dayton Power and Light is encouraging their customers to switch to compact fluorescent bulbs, and is offering a discount to do that, although for Warren County customers it may require a trip to Germantown or Wilmington.

DP&L says that incandescent light bulbs that use four times more energy than efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL’s), and that replacing one inefficient bulb with a CFL – which lasts 10 times longer - could save you $30 over its lifetime.

CFL’s cost more up front, though. DP&L is giving Miami Valley shoppers three chances over the next few weeks to spring into savings by buying a CFL at a reduced price and getting one free at area retailers.

Kings students face possibly frightening challenge: the household budget

KINGS MILLS, OH (FOX19) - The “Real Money, Real World” program will be at Kings High School 8 a.m. this Friday, March 16.  Businesses from throughout greater Cincinnati will come to KHS to help students learn what it’s like to live and balance a budget in the real world.

At the beginning of the program students will be assigned a marital status, a family status, and an income. Based  on that information, students have to budget for a home, transportation, childcare, insurance, and everything else that comes from being an adult in the real world.

The school district says this is a great hands-on experience for the students. Many comment on how they never realized how expensive everything could be.
