Sunday school teacher is sentenced to four years in prison

LEBANON, OH (FOX19)- A former Loveland Sunday school teacher is sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to performing sex acts on a teen boy.

Daniel Webster, 41, is sentenced to serve four years in prison and is designated as a tier three sex offender.

The victim was in Webster's Sunday school class at Life Adventure Church in Lebanon.

CINCINNATI, (FOX19) – A 54-year-old Mason woman faces up to 5 years in prison after pleading guilty to evading taxes.

Maria Georgievsky has  pleaded guilty to one count of income tax evasion relative to willfully attempting to evade and defeat employment taxes (federal income tax withholdings and Federal Insurance Contribution Act taxes) from April 2006 through October 2008 in the amount of $196,980.  Georgievsky faces a maximum prison sentence of five years and a fine of up to $250,000.

According to court documents, between April 2006 and October 2008 Georgievsky was the sole owner of Standard Services, Inc., a temporary labor agency in Mason, Ohio.  Standard Services, Inc. contracted with businesses to provide employees for housekeeping, laundry, and other unskilled labor at area hotels and one high school.

MORROW, OH (FOX19) – A Morrow Police officer who pulled a man over on what appeared to be a simple speeding ticket soon found a lot more than he expected.

When Sergeant Matt Landrum stopped 23-year-old Jacob Yost of Hillsboro, OH for speeding on US 22/3 in Morrow, he says he also found that Yost was driving under suspension. When he asked if he could search the car, Yost agreed, then volunteered that there was a meth lab in the trunk.

Sgt. Landrum didn’t find a meth lab, but he did find all the ingredients for making meth, including pseudoephedrine pills, Muriatic acid (also known as hydrochloric), lithium batteries, a moisture absorbing chemical, and more.  He says these are ingredients for the “one-pot” method of making methamphetamine.

WEST CHESTER – A man wanted for robbing a bank in West Chester led police into Montgomery County, then decided to give up after jumping into the frigid waters of the Great Miami.

West Chester Police Sergeant Matt Tombragel says 36-year-old Carl Beaty of Medway Ohio, which is northeast of Dayton, walked into the PNC Bank branch near the Meijer store on Tylersville Road, demanded money, and got a small amount. 

Just a couple minutes after he left, a West Chester officer who had heard the description of the getaway car – a mid 80’s full-size white Chevrolet window van – spotted it on Liberty Way, and started following it up northbound 75.  A few minute later he was joined by other officers, and they tried to stop the van around Monroe.

The van driver had other ideas, and got off on 122 and took the van on back streets into Montgomery County, with police behind.

Police sergeants will lead self-defense class

 

MASON (FOX19) - A pair of Mason Police sergeants will provide students hands-on training and teach low-level and the basics of self defense in upcoming classes.   Sergeants Jerome Deidesheimer and Jeremy Saylor will conduct the 2-hour presentation at Mason Community Center that includes home, vehicle, and personal safety.

Adults 18 and up are invited to participate.  There is a choice of two sessions.  The first is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 23. The second is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11.  Attendance at only one session is necessary, as both classes will be the same.

City of Mason names new Assistant Police Chief

 

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason City Manager Eric Hansen has announced the promotion of Police Lieutenant Paul Lindenschmidt to Captain. He will serve as an Assistant Police Chief for the City of Mason.

Captain Lindenschmidt has worked for the City of Mason Police Department since 1980.  He holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command, the Police Executive Leadership College, the Certified Law Enforcement Executive program, and the FBI National Academy.

Warren County child pornography producer's sentencing delayed

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A Mason man convicted of creating child pornography was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in federal court by U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith, but his sentencing has been delayed.

A new sentencing date has not been set.

Andrew Faires Keith pleaded guilty to crimes involving abusing young boys in his mother's home daycare, photographing the abuse, and, when the daycare shut down, trading the photos on the Internet for photos of other children being abused.  One of the victims, after being threatened by Keith, claimed another innocent boy had abused him.

Keith faces a minimum sentence of 30 years and a maximum of hundreds of years in prison.

His mother,  Teresa Bailey of West Chester, is facing charges of child endangerment; prosecutors say she knew of her son's actions and did nothing.
