Mason residents receive new recycling bins

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Seventeen semi-truckloads of wheeled recycling carts were delivered to Mason residents over the weekend. Mason has a significant recycling rate, with 60% to 70% of residents recycling.

In March, Mason City Council approved a new 2-year contract with Rumpke for trash collection. In response to a number of customer requests, the bid specs included the city’s preference to move to a larger recycling container with a lid. Rumpke’s bid included a large 65-gallon capacity recycling cart at the same monthly fee as their proposed 18-gallon container. The rate for the larger recycling cart with lid was an attractive option to encourage Mason residents to continue their recycling efforts.

The bins were delivered to Mason’s Water Reclamation Plant throughout last week. On Saturday, Rumpke began the assembly and delivery of the new carts. During the weekend, over 9000 recycling carts were delivered to those residents who didn’t opt out of the new cart by the July 31 deadline.

Residents are asked to begin using your new container this week. Old red bins do not need to be returned. Do not use them for an indoor recycling station or for storage.

If you received a cart in error, please contact Mason Utility Customer Service at 513-229-8533.
