Soak City waterpark expansion adds more than 50 activities

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Construction continues on Kings Island’s new Soak City waterpark, a $10 million dollar expansion of the park’s existing waterpark. 

Soak City will feature more than 50 water activities for the whole family, from waterslides to children’s areas.  A 650,000-gallon wave pool and action river highlight the new attractions in Soak City. 

Kings Island begins its 40th anniversary season April 28. 

Soak City is scheduled to open May 26 and is included free with park admission.

KINGS MILLS, OH (FOX19) - On Saturday, February 11 & Sunday, February 12, a musical drama performance of "Dead Serious...About Life" will be presented at Kings High School in Kings Mill, Ohio. The performance on Saturday begins at 6:00 p.m. and the Sunday performance begins at 3:00 p.m. The musical will be performed by a group called Mishpachah, Inc., which is based out of Mason, Ohio.

Mishpachah, Inc. is an auditioned group of high school students from the Cincinnati, Ohio area who participate in this community drama/music group. The group's unique name "Mishpachah" is a Hebrew word that means family or clan. "Mish" as they are called, is known for their radical and exceptional style and choreography. In the ‘11-’12 performance year, the group consist of 36 students representing 20 different school districts and 24 different churches.

Winter-themed carnival scheduled to benefit Western Row Elementary PTO

MASON, OH (FOX19) - The 8th annual Wacky winter-themed fair to benefit Western Row elementary's PTO is scheduled for Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The carnival will feature many games including Animal Discovery, two cake walks, skeeball, Snowflake Spin, a Wacky Salon, and a Snowball Burst where you get the chance to drench our Western Row Principals! Entertainment will be provided by Miami Elite Cheer, Mason Dance Center, Park Tae Kwon Do, and the Comet Skippers.

The PTO will raffle off themed baskets including, but not limited to, Ohio State University, All Sports, Everything Girl, Camping, Movie Night, Gift Cards, Build It, Everything Boy, Xavier, Mason Comets, Bengals and University of Cincinnati each created by classrooms at Western Row.

CAESAR CREEK STATE PARK, OH (FOX19) - The Special Olympics Ohio 2012 Polar Plunge held at Caesar Creek State Park, in Waynesville, is set for Saturday, January 28. The Caesar Creek Polar Plunge, one of nine Polar Plunges scheduled in Ohio this winter, is held for the benefit of Special Olympics Ohio.

This is the second straight year for the event to be held at Caesar Creek.

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Humane Association of Warren County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center will host its 21th annual Pet Pictures with Santa Paws on Saturday, December 10, from 11 am to 4:30 pm at the Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 230 Cook Road in Lebanon. Bring your favorite pet/s and create an annual holiday keepsake for family and friends. Children and parents can be included in the photo.

Photo Options:

  • 4x6 photo print in a holiday card is $15.
  • 4x6 photo print plus the digital photo burned to a CD for $20, which can be shared with family and friends.
  • Alumni pets, (dogs and cats adopted from our Shelter) will receive a free, 4x 6 duplicate of a purchased photo print.

Mason Community Center offers special needs sports day

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason Community Center will present a unique one-day program for families with special needs to feel comfortable trying a new activity without the pressure of having to join a team or class to participate. 

“Try It” offers an opportunity to try out several great sports, including soccer, baseball, and a Zumba class sampler, to help kids begin a new, healthy lifestyle.  The programs have been designed to work with the child to support any and all levels of participation.  Parents will meet the experienced people who will be supporting their child and answering any questions they may have.  In addition, buddies will be available to come alongside each child to make sure he or she has a positive experience while trying a new skill. There is no cost to participate. 

Try it: Sports! will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Mason Community Center.

Santa Claus is coming to Mason!

Santa Claus is coming to Mason!

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Santa’s coming to town! Bring the family to Mason Community Center from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, to visit with Santa and receive a keepsake photo. After the event, enjoy a day of play at Mason Community Center.

This is a free event for community center members. Non-members may attend for $10 for a family of four and $5 for each additional family member. A day pass to Mason Community Center is included in the cost. Registration is not required and payment can be made the day of the event.
