Ohio State Parks offering a night of free camping on Thursday

WAYNESVILLE, OH (FOX19) - Pull out the camping gear, grab the makings for s’mores and leave the wallet at home for a night of free camping with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The night of free camping will be available at 54 campgrounds within Ohio State Parks on Thursday, April 18. Ohio State Parks closest to the Cincinnati area include Little Miami State Park and Caesar Creek State Park in Waynesville.

“I want to encourage Ohioans to start their weekend early by camping at one of our Ohio State Parks campgrounds for free,” said ODNR Director James Zehringer. “This is an excellent opportunity for families to explore new parts of Ohio and find out what is available within our state parks system.”

MORROW, OH (FOX19) - A sign that the seasons are changing is that Miranda's Ice Cream is set to open.

Miranda's Ice Cream located on Main Street will re-open on Friday, April 5 at 3pm.

Miranda's features a full lunch and dinner menu, as well as the very best custom blended hand dipped and soft serve ice cream, shakes, cones, sundaes, parfaits, kids specialties, and more.

Spring events at the Mason Community Center

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Along with showers, April brings spring to Mason Community Center. Families can enjoy a free day at the center, shop at the spring Shop Local event, and get special deals on new memberships.

Bring the family to the Spring Fling on Saturday, April 6. Mason Community Center will be open to members and non-members for this free event. From noon to 1 p.m., the kids will enjoy a bunny hop dance and an egg scramble with prizes. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., wander down Main Street’s program fair and learn about many of the programs offered this spring at the center. Plan to spend the day enjoying the climbing wall, exergames, swimming pools, gym, fitness center, and free group exercise programs.

Throughout the month of April, first-time members who complete their enrollment before the end of the month will receive their first month of membership free. (Administrative fees will apply except for those who prepay for one year of membership.)

Dates and location set for 2013 AJ Green Football ProCamp

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Pro Bowl Wide Receiver A.J. Green is back for another year of football instruction and fun at the 2013 Fifth Third Bank A.J. Green Football ProCamp presented by CBTS.

Green will be on the site to direct the two-day event, July 17th and 18th from 9:00AM-12:30PM at Mason Middle School. He will be joined by a selection of the top prep and college coaches from the area.

Camp is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 and focuses on football fundamentals. Groups will be small to ensure each participant gets personalized instruction. Green will talk about the finer points of the game and beyond.

Participants receive an autographed team photo with Green, Camp T-shirt, goodie bag and the opportunity to win additional prizes. Cost of the camp is $199. Spots are limited, so participants are encouraged to register early.

March Madness at Cin City Reptile Show

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Cin City Reptile Show, Inc., will hold its monthly reptile show on Sunday, March 10.  The show will be held in the Belvedere Ballroom at the Kings Island Resort & Conference Center at 5691 Kings Island Dr., Mason, OH 45040. 

Hours are 10 am-4 pm.  Admission is $5 dollars, with children 10 years old and under admitted free.Each paid admission gets you entered for the door prize drawing held at 1pm for $250 in Show Bucks to be spent with any vendor the day of the show.  

The show is a very family friendly event, something inexpensive for everyone to do on a Sunday afternoon.  The public can view and buy 1000’s of non-venomous snakes, lizards, amphibians, spiders, small mammals, feeders and supplies, all at or below wholesale prices. Educated breeders will be on hand to allow the public to hold animals and ask questions.

Several free community events scheduled for Macy's Arts Sampler 2013

(FOX19) - Macy's Arts Sampler, presented by ArtsWave, celebrates theater, dance, museums, and music throughout the region in more than 20 Tri-State neighborhoods. The annual community campaign, which raised $11.2 million dollars in 2012, supports local arts organizations.

Over 60 free performances and/or activities will be offered in the following neighborhoods: Clermont County, Columbia Tusculum, College Hill, Covington, Eden Park, Fairfield, Mason, West Chester and Wyoming

The 2013 ArtsWave campaign, the largest united arts fund in the country, runs from February through April, and the goal is $11.5 million.
