Mason Kiwanis to hold annual Pancake Day

MASON, OH (FOX19) - The Kiwanis Club of Mason is gearing up to serve community members over 1,500 meals during its 52nd annual Pancake Day. Before the day is over, they will have flipped pancakes made from 80 gallons of Perkins batter, cooked 3,000 Waffle House sausage links, baked 2,000 Bob Evans Biscuits, and poured 7,000 ounces of Trauth Dairy Orange Juice.

Kiwanis Pancake Day will be held on Saturday, November 13 from 7:00am until 1:00 pm, in the Mason Middle School Commons. You’ll want to try “The Works;” a Kiwanis tradition that includes pancakes, sausage, biscuits & gravy and a choice of milk, coffee or juice—all for just $5!  Purchase your tickets by calling Pancake Day Co-Chair Tracey Carson at 398-0474, or by just showing up at the door on the day of the event. Tickets are $5, and children under age three eat free.

Stuff the Metro Bus

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- It’s almost time to stuff the turkey, but first we have to stuff the bus!

Metro is trying to collect a bus full of canned goods for those in need in our communities. Come out to the Mason Kroger's located at 5100 Terra Firma Drive on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. to help stuff the bus!

This Stuff the Bus event will benefit Cincinnati’s Freestore Foodbank. Metro will have a 40-foot bus to be filled with canned goods, boxed food, paper products, personal care items and any other non-perishable items for those who need them the most this holiday season.

The event will also provide the chance for participants to meet new Metro CEO & General Manager Terry Garcia Crews, who will be at the event from 9 a.m.

Weekend open house at the Mason Community Center

MASON, OH (FOX19) - A two day open house at the Mason Community Center offers free family fun. 

At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, a ribbon cutting ceremony will begin with a flag raising. The Dixie Ramblers, a local jazz band, will perform before and after the ceremony. Special recognition will be given to members of the center who are ages 90 and over.The ceremony will be followed by a free open house until 8 p.m. After the ceremony until noon, observe gymnastics classes, sit for a story in Kids Korner, play bingo in the senior center, catch some chair volleyball, walk the track with some local officials, and view fitness, climbing wall, and exergaming demonstrations.

View a competitive level gymnastics demonstration between 12:30 and 3:30, stop by the fitness center to meet the personal trainer staff until 5 p.m., and enjoy water games in the pool throughout the day.

All Aboard the Pumpkin Patch Express!

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - Join the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad on a train ride through Warren County in Southwestern, Ohio to Schappacher Farm in Mason. Walk through a real working farm, pet the animals, find your way through a corn maze, and select a pie pumpkin. Homemade snacks are for sale at the Schappacher Farm Barn.

Train rides are scheduled for October 16 & 17, October 23 & 24, October 30 & 31.

The Schappacher Farm is open to the public at various times throughout the week and weekend. They offer Hay Rides (not recommended during train ride due to time constraints) and Pumpkin Patches that guests can walk through. Larger pumpkins from the patches are available for purchase and are allowed to be carried back on the train.

Lebanon Station is located at 127 South Mechanic Street.
