New Halloween events just for kids at Kings Island

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Trick-or-Treat with the Dinosaurs is just half the fun for families this fall at Kings Island.  There’s also Soak City’s Howl-O-Palooza.

This all-new Halloween-themed special event features all sorts of activities like a hay bale maze, petting zoo, pony rides, costume contest, dance party, talking pumpkin, carnival games, food, and more.

Everyone’s favorite rides are also open including thrill rides like the Beast and Diamondback roller coasters, the Grand Carousel, K.I. & Miami Valley Railroad, and the attractions in the 12-time, award-winning Planet Snoopy kids’ area. 

Howl-O-Palooza will be open September 23, 29 and every Saturday and Sunday in October from 11:00am until 6:00pm and is included free with park admission.

Kings Island is closed to the public until September 21, when the sixth season of Halloween Haunt begins.

The event will be from 4-7 p.m. There will be a traditional pig roast – Luau style. Everyone is welcome and the event is free of charge. RSVP to 513-229-3155 by September 7.

The event will take place at Emeritus at Long Cove Pointe which is located off Irwin Simpson Rd, in Mason.

Great Mason Chase and Sunshine Concert Series Play on Sunday

MASON, OH (FOX19) - The City of Mason's free Sunshine Concert Series and the Great Mason Chase wrap up together this weekend.

Teams from Mason and the region are invited to compete in the Great Mason Chase. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, the Great Mason Chase will challenge you and your partner as you run, bike, or walk to complete challenges at local businesses and city landmarks. Inspired by Chicago's City Chase, the race features activities at almost three dozen locations.

Clues will be given to lead you from one challenge to the next. See if you can complete ten challenges with the best time-or complete the most challenges. Whether you're in top shape or taking the first steps to get in shape, it's sure to be fun.

Sign up in teams of two for the Great Mason Chase. Registrations will be taken up until the start of the event. Need child care?

Monthly reptile show features door prizes and snakes for sale

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Cin City Reptile Show, Inc., will hold its monthly reptile show on Sunday, August 12.  The show will be held in the Belvedere Ballroom at the Kings Island Resort & Conference Center at 5691 Kings Island Dr., in Mason.  Hours are 10 am-4 pm. and admission is $5 dollars, with children 10 years old and under admitted free.  Each paid admission gets you entered for the door prize drawing for $250 in Show Bucks to be spent with any vendor the day of the show.   

The family friendly show, will feature a free live educational presentation by Peter Rushton. Peter is an expert in the field on all things reptilian. He will discuss the basics from handling to husbandry and conservation.  W

The public can view and buy 1000’s of non-venomous snakes, lizards, amphibians, spiders, small mammals, feeders and supplies, all at or below wholesale prices.

MASON, OH (FOX19) - There will be Dragonflies having lots of fun Monday, August 6 on the more than 100 rides and attractions at Kings Island.

The Dragonflies that will be smiling, laughing, riding and playing at Kings Island are children and young adults with cancer and blood diseases that are currently being treated at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The Dragonfly Foundation is a non-profit 501 c3 organization based in Mason, Ohio that provides toys, arts and crafts, games, entertainment outings and celebrity visits to children and their families and caregivers that serve to ease the burden and significant challenges that each patient and their family faces as they go through chemotherapy and treatment.

Celebrate Kings Island's 40th anniversary with $19.72 tickets

MASON, OH (FOX19) - As part of Kings Island’s season-long 40th anniversary celebration, the 364-acre amusement and waterpark is offering a special admission price of just $19.72 after 5:00pm from July 20-31. 

Guests can take advantage of this special anniversary offer to enjoy rides like the Beast and Diamondback roller coasters and the more than 50 water activities in the new Soak City Waterpark.  Parents with young children can spend an evening together in the 11-time, award-winning Planet Snoopy kids’ area.  Live shows such as “Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus of Magic & Mayhem”, “Remember When: The 70’s!” and “Hot Summer Nights” can also be seen after 5:00pm.

Kings Island will also present its fireworks spectacular each night during the promotion at 10:00pm.  This colorful pageant in the sky is something that will certainly cap off a memorable evening at the park.
