Santa will call your home, if he's asked to

Santa will call your home, if he's asked to

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati Bell has announced its “Santa Calls” program is back by popular demand. Users can schedule a free phone call from Santa customized with their child’s name and choose one of four holiday messages.

Since its launch in 2006, more than 400,000 Santa Calls have been placed. Calls from Santa are powered by OneCommand and are free of charge. Users can schedule a call online or from a smartphone to any home or mobile phone number with a 513, 859, 937, or 812 area code. Santa begins his message after the recipient says “Hello” with the chosen holiday message. For recipients who have Caller ID service, the call appears as though it's coming straight from the North Pole.

Thousands of Crossroads Church volunteers drop off food boxes

Thousands of Crossroads Church volunteers drop off food boxes

CINCINNATI AND MASON, OH (FOX19) - Thousands of volunteers from Crossroads Church will drop off their Thanksgiving food boxes this weekend at the church's locations in Oakley and Mason. About 4500 boxes will be distributed to 60 inner-city churches and charities in Cincinnati, who will then share the boxes with families in their community. Another 4300 boxes of food (96,000 pounds) will go to two charities in South Africa.

The drop offs will have a festive feel with volunteers in turkey suits and hats, people dancing, and general merriment.

This is the 15th year for the program at Crossroads, a 25% increase in giving over last year.  More than 1000 volunteers are involved, not including those filling boxes.  The Food Drive has inspired similar drives in Louisiana and Georgia.

MASON, OH (FOX19) - An upcoming event is offering area residents the opportunity to combine Jewish insight, family fun, and gastronomic delight.

“Pizza In The Hut” dishes out the disc-shaped deliciousness, family attractions, and insights on Jewish traditions at 5 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, October 16, at The Jewish Discovery Center in Mason, to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot (pronounced “Soo-kote”), or Feast of Booths.

Celebrate the festival of Sukkot and enjoy pizza, sweets, edible arts and crafts, pony rides, petting zoo, Lulav Shake, Bouncing Castles, story time, and a chance to meet other young families.

The Sukkot holiday commemorates G-d's kindness during the Exodus and is observed by eating meals and celebrating in the Sukkah, a temporary hut or booth covered with palm or other branches.
