Free Kings Island tickets available for area blood donors

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Hoxworth Blood Center is teaming up with Kings Island to encourage blood donations and help prevent summer blood shortages.

All donors will receive a free one-day ticket to Kings Island when you donate blood at one of the following Hoxworth Neighborhood Donor Centers or Community Blood Drives on the specified dates.

Blood donors are also encouraged to bring in a non-perishable food item in exchange for a free ticket to Kings Island.  The donated food items will be given to the Freestore Foodbank.

Due to the anticipated popularity of this event, appointments are highly encouraged.

5k to benefit scholarship program

WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The Warren County Township Association will host a 5k run/walk to benefit a new scholarship program on Saturday.

            The scholarship program benefits Warren County high school seniors.

            The three point one mile race beginning at 8:30 in the morning will be held at Armco Park in Lebanon.

LOVELAND, OH (FOX19) – This is the time of year when people in general and kids in particular start to spend more tmie in and around swimming pool, ponds, and other bodies of water.

Loveland Deputy Fire Chief Billy Goldfeder has sent out this fairly comprehensive manual to preventing your child from drowning, and reducing the odds that a child drowns in your pool.

The Spring has traditionally been celebrated across our beautiful greater Cincinnati area as the beginning of the summer season. This time of year means vacations and many families take their first dip in the backyard, neighborhood or community swimming pool. WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Actor Omari Hardwick will join Ickey Woods, Yancey Thigpen, Art Still, Chuck Foreman, Alfred William, James Francis, Pete Johnson and a host of other local celebrities for the first ever Fairways For Airways Celebrity Golf Classic. The American Lung Association and the Jovante Woods Foundation are partnering together to host this inaugural event.

Omari Hardwick has appeared in many films including The Guardian with Kevin Costner, The A-Team with Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper and For Colored Girls with Janet Jackson. He also started in the short lived television series Dark Blue alongside Dylan McDermott. Most recently, Hardwick stars in Whitney Houston’s final movie, Sparkle, hitting theaters in August.

West Chester, Mason, Liberty Twp women invited to event for unique charity



WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - West Chester  Hospital will serve as host for a special Power of the Purse member event on Tuesday, April 10. Power of the Purse is a group of local women philanthropists who award grant funding to organizations which provide assistance to women and girls. To date, more than $45,000 has been awarded to organizations or projects that focus on meeting the basic needs of food, shelter or health care for women or children.

The event is an opportunity for the group’s membership to come together to casually network with their peers, and attend a women’s health mini-seminar presented by Lisa Larkin, MD, internist and medical director of the UC Health Women’s Center at West Chester Hospital, slated to open in late 2012.

“Walk for Lupus Now” returns for 4th year

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -  The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter is inviting the community to the 4th annual "Walk for Lupus Now" event.  For many years, The Lupus Foundation of America has been known for its annual Walks as their biggest fundraisers of the year. This year, they will hold the walk in Franklin Township, Ohio.  They want everyone from Northern Cincinnati and Dayton to join them.

The event will be held on April 28, 2012 in Franklin Township Park, 4163 State Route 122, Franklin, Ohio 45005. Registration begins at 9:00am, awards ceremony will be held at 10:00am, and the walk begins at 11:00am.

One day free dental care available in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Volunteers, patients and a team of dentists in Franklin County are spreding free smiles on Friday, March 9.

During Dentistry from the Heart, team of dental professionals at Merion Village Dental, LLC will provide adult patients with a free extraction, filling or cleaning.

Event registration and will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the offices of Merion Village Dental, LLC. Patients are encouraged to arrive early and will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. The dentists and their team of volunteers will see as many patients as possible until 5:00 p.m.
