Hoxworth offering 2012 winter T-shirt to donors

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Hoxworth Blood Center is celebrating National Volunteer Blood Donor Month by releasing a limited-edition 2012 winter T-shirt. These timeless editions are available once a year and only for blood donors as appreciation for their gift of life. All donors who give blood between Mon., January 9 and Sat., January 14, at a Neighborhood Donor Center will receive the shirt.

Since Hoxworth Winter T-shirts are extremely popular, appointments are highly recommended. Donations can be made at any of the eight Neighborhood Donation Centers, for more information visit www.hoxworth.org or call (513) 451-0910 to schedule an appointment.

MASON, OH (FOX19) - You can pursue your New Year’s fitness goals with a 10-week weight loss challenge in Mason. Beginning January 7, Mason Community Center members are invited to join the new “Empowered to Lose BIG” program. Mason Community Center will help members reach fitness goals with weekly interactive how-to clinics, fitness tips, group exercise offerings, healthy eating advice from a nutritionist, and weekly weigh-ins.

Prizes will be awarded for the top male and female finishers in 3 separate categories: most pounds lost, most percent body weight lost, and most “pound reward points.”

All participants are invited to join the launch party on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Register by December 30 to be guaranteed an Empowered to Lose Big T-shirt. Registration is $10 and the activity number is 186100-01.

Otterbein Lebanon Life Enrichment Center Groundbreaking Celebration set for Nov. 10

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - An exciting day is fast approaching at Otterbein Lebanon Senior Lifestyle Community: the groundbreaking of a new life enrichment center.  At 10 a.m. on Nov. 10, contributors, residents, staff and friends will congregate for the celebration at Otterbein Lebanon Senior Lifestyle Community, 585 N. State Route 741. 

The life enrichment center is a collaborative effort between Otterbein Lebanon and the Ralph J. Stolle Countryside YMCA. The ceremony, which will take place under the tent just north of Marble Hall, will be followed by refreshments and fellowship. Major contributors and capital campaign leadership committee members will be recognized. In case of inclement weather, the gathering will take place in the multi-purpose room. 

The new community life enrichment center will enhance health and well-being by offering a variety of programs to meet the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social wellness needs of area seniors.

Join Drs. Gaurang Gandhi and Loren Hiratzka of Bethesda North Hospital Heart and Vascular Center as they discuss advances in arrhythmia treatment at an evening presentation at Mason Community Center.

Boil advisory to follow water line work

TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Water will be shut down from 8:30 a.m. to roughly 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5th for water improvements. 

The outage will affect 1437 through 2628 U.S. 42, 1856 and 1858 Columbia Road, and all of Bone Road. 

This automatically requires a boil advisory as soon as water pressure is restored.  Once water comes back, customers are advised to boil water vigorously for two minutes before using it, and to use bottled water for drinking and cooking. 

Once the water tests good, the boil advisory will be dropped.

Mason Community Center Hosts Community Wellness Expo

MASON, OH (FOX19) - The community is invited to a Community Wellness Expo from 7 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, at Mason Community Center.  Information on personal health, fitness and financial wellness programs, pet care, family nutrition, and other topics will be presented. 

Experts will be on-hand to answer questions. The Mason Community Center personal trainers will be there, along with Nutritionist Miriam Jackobs and representatives from TriHealth Pavilion Spa, Chase Bank, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, Mason Family Pet Hospital, Mojo Running Store, Bethesda Mason Physical Therapy, and Whole Foods Market. 

Seven presentations and 25 exposition vendors are scheduled for this free family-friendly event. Interactive programs and demonstrations will be held throughout the Community Center during the Expo. 

Stop by during the Expo to schedule cholesterol and glucose screenings.
