Mason's  Bly to Lead MECC

MASON, OH (FOX19) - A new leader will soon take the helm of the district’s early childhood center that educates 1,800 preschool, kindergarten and first grade students-- but she won’t be new to Mason City Schools. Beginning August 1, Melissa Bly will leave her post as Mason Heights Assistant Principal to begin serving as MECC Principal.

“Melissa will do an outstanding job. She is a very caring professional who puts children first, and it has been such a pleasure to watch her career blossom,” said Mason School Board member Marianne Culbertson after the board unanimously approved hiring Bly during its July 6 meeting.

Bly’s Mason City Schools’ roots are deep. The 1993 MHS graduate began teaching third and fourth graders at Western Row Elementary in 1997, and was promoted to assistant principal in 2004.  “I’ve been a part of Mason City Schools for most of my life.

Deerfield Township Administrator resigns

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Deerfield Township has announced that David Duckworth has submitted his resignation as Township Administrator effective today (July 8).  Duckworth cited personal matters in his letter of resignation as the reason for leaving.

He wrote in his letter of resignation that he has enjoyed his time with the township and is grateful for the opportunity.

In their release, the township said "We wish him well in his future endeavors".

Assistant Administrator & Director of Community Development Lois McKnight will manage the day to day operation of the township until Duckworth’s successor is selected.

Car contest raises money for family of Sgt. Brian Dulle

LEBANON (FOX19) - The Warren County Sheriff's office and Lebanon Chrysler Dodge Jeep are raffling a Chrysler 200 to raise money for the family of Sgt. Brian Dulle, a deputy who was killed when he was hit by a car during a chase this spring.

Tickets are being sold at the Sheriff's Office, 550 Justice Drive, and the dealership, at 518 West Main Street, both in Lebanon.

Tickets are 50 dollars each and there is a limit of 200 that can be sold, which means a maximum gross of $100,000 dollars.  The car has an estimated value of just under $22,000.

UC Renames Its College of Business In Honor of Carl Lindner

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- The University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees voted today to rename the university's College of Business the Carl H. Lindner College of Business in honor of Mr. Lindner's extraordinary support of the university and his legacy of entrepreneurship and excellence in business.

The renaming of the College of Business is a fitting tribute to Mr. Lindner because of his support and because of his legacy.  Mr. Lindner's values, integrity, family focus and incredible history of success are all attributes to which the University and its College of Business aspire.  This decision is good for the Lindner family, for the University of Cincinnati, the College of Business and the community.

"We choose to honor Mr. Lindner because of his tremendous and long-standing support of our university, his profound dedication to our community and his legendary success," said UC President Gregory H.

Creations Cooking Classes have something for everyone this summer

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- The Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State is launching another sequence in its popular Creations Cooking Class series next month.

The summer series, sponsored by Kroger, features 14 offerings in July and August ranging from Ice Cream Making to Advanced French Technique. As ever, each class is entirely hands-on and taught by certified, professional chefs - many of whom can be found most nights in the kitchens of some of Greater Cincinnati's best restaurants.

The classes are designed for a variety of culinary skill levels.  Some will function as summer camps for children and teens.  Most are meant as to be fun as well as instructive sessions for adults who love food and the process of preparing it well.  A handful of the Creations Classes are designed for gourmet cooks and those with advanced culinary skills.

Governor and First Lady Join Military Families for Memorial Day Ceremony

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) - Governor Kasich, First Lady Karen Waldbillig Kasich, will join families of those who lost their lives while serving, members of the military, and friends.

Governor and First Lady will honor Ohio service members who have lost their lives while serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars with a public wreath-laying ceremony.  This event will take place on Friday, May 27, 2011, 12:00 p.m at the Ohio Statehouse, Veterans' Plaza
