MASON, OH (FOX19) - The Mason Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting scheduled for January 12, 2012, has been cancelled. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, February 9, 2012.

Last December’s Mason Zoning Board of Appeals meeting has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Mason Municipal Center. The meeting is open to the public.

Ohio Secretary of State holds local office hours

LEBANON, OH – Secretary of State Jon Husted’s regional liaison will be holding open office hours Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Lebanon Public Library.  The goal of open office hours is to give local citizens an opportunity to learn more about and stay connected with the Secretary of State’s office in an informal and accessible setting.

In addition to making voter registration forms and election information available, regional representatives will be on hand to answer questions and distribute materials to those interested in learning more about the other functions of the office such as the business services division and new initiatives including the Ohio Business Profile and Military Ready-to-Vote program.

Software company expanding, building technology HQ in Mason

 

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason-based Seapine software is expanding its operations by building a seven-million dollar 50,000 square foot technology headquarters in Mason.  The company will add 40 jobs over three-to-five years.

Seapine makes software that helps their more than 8500 client companies manage and maintain their own software.

Mason City Council approved a $100,000 loan Monday night for landscaping and improvements.

Warren County CSEA earns two state awards

 

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Warren County Child Support Enforcement Agency has been recognized for outstanding performance during fiscal year 2011.  The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Office of Child Support, awarded the agency for Best Performance in Support Order Establishment in the Large Caseload Division and Best Performance in Total Disbursements per Total Full-Time Equivalent in the Large Caseload Division.

Prosecutor David Fornshell said these awards demonstrate Warren County’s child support program is very effective in providing much needed support services to families in our community.  CSEA Director Elizabeth Schorr stated, “I am proud that our Child Support Enforcement Agency can provide effective services to so many families with the funding available to us.”

Local representatives praise ban on abortion funding in Ohio "Obamacare"

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) - Two state representatives from the eastern part of the Tri-State are happy that abortions won't be covered as part of federally mandated health care in Ohio.  Here's a release from State Representatives Danny Bubp and Joe Uecker: 

State Representatives Danny Bubp (R-Lake Waynoka) and Joe Uecker (R- Loveland) have announced that Governor John Kasich has signed into law House Bill 79, which is designed to protect Ohio’s taxpayers from paying for abortion through Obamacare. Specifically, it prohibits the coverage of elective abortions within the health care plans required by the new federal health care law. 

“With the governor’s signature, House Bill 79 ensures that the taxpayers’ money will not be used for abortion services,” stated Bubp.

Deerfield Township holds discussion of homeowners' association issues

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Deerfield Township Board of Trustees will host the 2011 Fall Homeowners’ Association Consortium this Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 4900 Parkway Drive, Suite 180.

This gathering is an opportunity for all community residents to come and share their concerns and experiences regarding neighborhood issues and HOA problems with the Board of Trustees, Township department staff and each other.

Seasoned HOA board representatives are especially encouraged to attend, as their first-hand experience and knowledge can provide both depth and context to discussion. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Lieutenant Governor visits Lebanon

Lieutenant Governor visits Lebanon

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor will stop in Lebanon Wednesday. 

She will visit local business leaders for a half an hour Wednesday morning to discuss the new federal healthcare law and Ohio’s Common Sense Initiative.  She is in charge of the measure, passed early this year, which requires state agencies to justify the need for regulations on businesses. 

She will then meet with news reporters.
