Senate bill 5 debate pits Connie Pillich and Shannon Jones

MASON, OH (FOX19) - It's pretty unusual for two state legislators not running against each to debate an issue outside the capitol, but that going to happen Thursday. 

State Representative Connie Pillich (D-Montgomery) and State Senator Shannon Jones (R-Springboro) will debate the merits of Senate Bill 5, the collective bargaining legislation sponsored by Sen. Jones, on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Opponents got enough signatures to force the controversial law onto  the November ballot, where it is designated as issue 2.

The debate will be held at Cedar Village in Mason. 

The two lawmakers will debate the merits and impact of the legislation on the state and its public workers.

Beck lauds L-3 expansion in Mason

MASON. OH (FOX19) - State Representative Peter Beck (R- Mason) is voicing his enthusiastic support for L-3 Cincinnati Electronics and their new state-of-the-art facility expansion just dedicated in Mason. 

L-3 CE is known around the world for its superior development of infrared technologies, along with space and missile electronics. The expanded facility in Mason will occupy a system integration laboratory and a processing facility that will develop the newest and most innovative infrared technology. Rep. Beck says he is thrilled that this new technology will be used aboard the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, an aircraft that he is very supportive of.

L-3 CE is also developing a skilled workforce that will be prepared to deal with the ever-changing world of technology. “With a strong workforce and an industry that continues to grow exponentially, I believe that the best is yet to come for L-3 CE,” Rep. Beck said.

Beck Visits the Jewish Federation after Israel trip

MASON, OH (FOX19)  State Representative Peter Beck (R-Mason) visited the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati on Monday, July 25th to speak about his recent trip to Israel.  The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati is the second oldest Jewish Federation in existence and helps individuals embrace a Jewish life.

Beck visited the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati after completing his trade mission to Israel this past May.  He shared his experiences from the trip and also informed them of the developing business partnerships that he helped to develop between Ohio and Israel.

The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati raises more than $6.9 million dollars annually for social and educational needs, supports many community outreach programs and has a goal of strengthening their community not only in Cincinnati, but also in Israel and all over the world.

Man's lottery ticket brings money to Morrow

MORROW, OH (FOX19) - A Morrow man came got all five regular numbers, but not the Powerball in the June 18th Ohio Lottery Powerball drawing.

Lacking the Powerball, he won 200 thousand dollars, which after taxes means he will have to get by on $138 thousand in winnings.

He purchased the ticket from Kelly’s Drive Thru, 5979 3C Highway RR 3 in Morrow. Hall used the auto pick to choose his numbers.  Kelly’s Drive Thru receives a $1,000 agent bonus for selling a second-tier prize winning Powerball ticket.

Representative Beck to speak at Leadership of Warren County Government Day

WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - State Representative Peter Beck (R-Mason) will be speaking at the Leadership of Warren County government day this Friday, July 29th. Leadership of Warren County is a community leadership development program that provides information about Warren County and improves leadership skills within individuals. This encourages individuals within the county to become more involved in their local communities and assume leadership roles.

Representative Peter Beck will be speaking about key issues that are affecting the state and Warren County at this time. He will also be sharing how he became involved in politics and what it takes to be a leader in Warren County.

The objective of the Leadership of Warren County class is to seek out potential leaders in the community and educate them about social and economic change within the community, along with personal leadership development.
