Beck praises House passage of bills to would limit abortion

MASON, OH (FOX19) - State Representative Peter Beck is praising the passage of bills that would place limits on how late in a pregnancy that a woman can have an abortion in the state, and to prohibit abortions being offered as a federal health benefit in the state.

One such bill is House Bill 78, legislation that prohibits an abortion if the unborn child is confirmed to be viable, which is possible by approximately 22 to 24 weeks. If a child is considered viable, an abortion is prohibited except in the case of a medical emergency or if the woman has a serious physical health condition. In cases in which an abortion is medically necessary, the procedure must be performed at a neonatal facility where the method is most likely to permit the child to survive.

The House also approved House Bill 125, commonly known as the Heartbeat Bill.

Public invited to meeting on Wayne Township 20-year plan

WAYNESVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The public is invited to participate in a community meeting being held Tuesday where people can learn and discuss the Wayne Township Comprehensive Plan.

The plan is a future vision for the community for the next 20 years; it also determines the steps toward achieving the vision. The township says it values the public’s input and is providing this community meeting so that they can receive comments and suggestions, which are vital for this process to move forward.

The last comprehensive plan completed by Wayne Township was done in 1996.  In late march, township trustees, business owners, and other residents started the comprehensive planning process; they have met once a month to discuss public participation strategies, strengths and weaknesses of the community, and construct a vision statement.  This Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) needs additional public input to build on the foundation for the plan.

Here's his release on the topic:

State Representative Peter Beck (R-Mason) has announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed the Senate companion legislation to amend Ohio’s concealed carry laws to make them simpler and consistent with other states.

Senate Bill 17 will simplify the provisions related to the carrying of firearms in vehicles by eliminating the “micromanaging” provisions that dictate where a gun must be stored in a vehicle, which allows law-abiding citizens to avoid accidental violations.
