Warren County GOP chooses new prosecutor

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Warren County Republican Party has chosen its new prosecuting attorney for the county.

The Warren County GOP chose David Fornshell of the law firm Dinsmore & Shohl to be the new prosecuting attorney.

Fornshell will be replacing Rachel Hutzel, who was elected judge on the Ohio Twelfth District Court of Appeals. Assistant Prosecutor Bruce McGary had been serving the position since she was elected judge.

McGary plans on running for the office next election.

State representative holding town meeting

MASON, OH (FOX19) - People in Mason, Lebanon, Franklin, western Deerfield Township, and the townships of Northwest Warren County will have a chance to sound off to their state representative Monday evening.

67th district Representative Peter Beck us holding a town hall meeting from 6-7 p.m.

Beck says this is a chance for people to speak about Ohio's ongoing budget process or any other concerns they have about what is going on in the district.

The meeting will be held in the community room of the Mason Municipal Center, which is on Mason Montgomery Road just north of Maosn high School.

Prosecutor wins award, but will he win job?

LEBANON (FOX19) - Longtime Warren County Assistant Prosecutor Bruce McGary has won a top award amongst assistant prosecutors in Ohio, but may find it harder to win his boss' old job.

McGary won the Meritorious Service Award from the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association at their winter meeting a week or so ago.  The award is presented to an assistant prosecuting attorney in Ohio who has demonstrated outstanding performance as a member of a county prosecutor’s office.  Besides being Chief Assistant in Warren County for many years, McGary has recently prosecuted federal cases as part of a crime task force.  He was presented with the award by past OPAA President Kevin Baxter.

Now he wants the Warren County Republican Party's endorsement to be appointed the new Warren County Prosecutor.  Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel is leaving office to become a judge in the Ohio 12th District Court of Appeals, a Middletown-based court that serves Warren, Butler, and

Three Republican governors rally in Ohio

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - GOP candidate for Ohio governor John Kasich expects to get help in his final campaign push from three current Republican governors.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Mississippi's Haley Barbour and New Jersey's Chris Christie rally Friday for Kasich in the Republican-dominated southwest Ohio suburbs.

The three governors are campaigning in Ohio ahead of weekend visits by a Democratic big three: President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and former president Bill Clinton. Former congressman Kasich is trying to unseat Democratic Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland.

Minnesota's Pawlenty and Barbour of Mississippi are usually listed among possible 2012 presidential candidates. Christie has said he's not ready to consider a national run.

Kasich and GOP to rally Friday

LEBANON (FOX19) - Ohio Republican candidate for governor John Kasich will be joined by influential governors from other states at a rally in Lebanon Friday.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Tea Party party Saturday at Kings Island

MASON (FOX19) - If you see large groups of people at Kings Island Saturday who seem to be avoiding the rides, you may have spotted members of the Cincinnati Tea Party.

That group and the Ohio Liberty Council are holding "Ohio Liberty Day" at Kings Island between 1:00 and 8:45 p.m.

City offices closed next Monday

FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19)- Franklin City offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2010 to observe the Fourth of July.

The Franklin City Council meeting is also cancelled. The next council meeting will be July 19th.
