BLANCHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Second grade students at Harlan-Butlerville Primary School got to live a piece of history as they took part in a famous American "wax museum" recently.

Students chose their favorite American, researched his or her life and then portrayed that person in the "museum."

Parents, family members and other students were able to stop by each "exhibit" and hear the student give a short speech about his or her character. Students portrayed everyone from Sacajawea to Henry Ford, in full costume.

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason High School senior, Peeyush Shrivastava's, was recently named a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science competition, for Investigations Into CaMKII Regulation of Cardiac Excitability.  But he is quick to share that his journey started long ago, and was inspired by his ailing grandfather and hero.

“When I was in sixth grade my grandfather was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, and other health complications. I felt like my innocence was stripped away as I saw how he was struggling, and I wanted to try to figure out exactly what was happening so that no other family would have to experience what ours was going through,” said Shrivastava.

MAINEVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The Little Miami 8th grade girls basketball team finished 13-1 in the regular season, and swept three games in the SouthwestOhio Conference tournament, winning the championship over Edgewood, the only squad to hand them a loss this season.

The junior high’s near-perfect season has added additional spark to a women’s program that has been trying to recapture the excitement of the powerhouse teams of 2004-2007, which strungtogether three undefeated seasons, three FAVC championships, and a trip to state.

With a talented 8th grade group headed to high school next year, Varsity Coach Matt Tolliver said, “We know the best days are ahead of us.”

Felisha Hartmann, in her first year as coach of the 8th grade team, said she was thrilled with the way the girls played throughout the season, dominating opponents and losing just one close contest to Edgewood.
