Ohio's tallest bridge being replaced

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - A small shovelfull of dirt will represent the start of the construction project that will replace the Jeremiah Morrow Memorial Bridge in Warren County.  The structure is Ohio's tallest bridge and spans the Little Miami River for Interstate 71.

The groundbreaking at 10a.m. this morning will be by Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jolene M. Molitoris and District 8 Deputy Director Hans Jindal.

The current bridge is 1/2 mile long and 239 feet above the river. It consists of two deck truss style bridges each carrying two lanes of the interstate.  This is the same style of bridge that carried I-35 in Minneapolis which collapsed 3 years ago.

New traffic patterns are in effect at the Mason Road roundabout

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Traffic conditions at the intersection of Mason Road, Sarah Drive, and Hickory Woods Drive should see some improvment and movement beginning on Monday. Around 4:00p.m. new traffic patterns will be in effect at the new Mason Road roundabout.

This area of roadway will begin functioning as a roundabout instead of a stop-signed 4-way intersection. Motorists will no longer be able to make left turns at this intersection. Instead, they must proceed to the right around the circle and exit to the right at their intended destination.

Temporary barrels are being used to mark where “splitter islands” will be installed in the coming weeks. The splitter islands guide motorists into right-hand turns so they travel in the correct direction around the roundabout.

The roundabout is part of the Mason Road improvement project. The entire project will be completed later this year.
