CLEARCREEK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A crash Monday afternoon on State Route 122 east of Hart Road killed the driver of a Ford Taurus, seriously injured two of his passengers, while causing lesser injuries for another passenger and the driver of the pickup truck he hit.

Clearcreek Township Police Sergeant Larry Cornett says a witness that was in a car following Taurus said it was driving along normally at about 45 or 50 miles an hour when it started drifting across the yellow line.  It hit a heavy-duty Dodge 2500 pickup truck head-on.

The 52-year-old driver of the Taurus died at the scene.  The two more seriously injured survivors in that car were flown to Miami Valley Hospital, while the other passenger was taken there in an ambulance.  The driver of the pickup truck turned down an ambulance but was getting his own ride to a hospital for a shoulder injury.

Lane of 71 closed for hours after truck crash

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) – The right lane of southbound I-71 was closed for hours and hours while an accident scene was cleaned up Tuesday.

Just after noon Tuesday, a tractor-trailer flipped on its side on southbound 71 in eastern Warren County. It was loaded with a cargo of some type of chemical that the Ohio EPA wass concerned with, although it was not treated as a hazard to passing motorists.  The entire southbound side of the highway was closed for a while, then one lane was opened, The EPA and cleanup crews were called to the scene, which was originally expected to be active until after 6 p.m.  In the end, the last crews cleared the scene just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The highway closed was on southbound 71 between Wilmington road and Route 73.  That stretch of the highway is only two lanes, so backups built up because all traffic had to use the high speed lane.

Medical emergency may have caused SUV to fly off 71 exit

SYMMES TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A man was trapped and injured when his SUV went off the ramp from I-71 to the Fields Ertel-Mason Montgomery exit.

The 2007 Chevy driven by 30-year-old Terrence Strader of West Chester went off the left side of the ramp and hit a signpost and a tree before finally crashing into a metal utility pole just shy of Mason Montgomery Road.

Motorist Steve Vetter took a couple photos looking northeast from the ramp area toward part of the business area; the fire trucks are on Mason-Montgomery.  He said the SUV came down the ramp at a high rate of speed and hit a couple trees before it hit the pole.

Strader was rescued from the truck by the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department, then taken to the hospital by University AirCare, and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  Police day he was wearing a seatbelt.
