Culvert work to close busy stretch of 42

 

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Culvert replacement will require closing U.S. 42 between Cox Road and Tylersville Road, approximately 475 feet north of Manors Drive, from Saturday, February 18 to Friday, March 2. 

The posted detour for northbound U.S. 42 traffic will be north (left) on Cox Road to east (right) on Tylersville Road, back to U.S. 42.  The detour for southbound U.S. 42 traffic will be the same in reverse.  The detour is an additional 1.29 miles.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming road closure.

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -  Pavement work will require the closing of the left lane of northbound Interstate 75 at State Route 122 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Arrow boards and signs will be in place prior to the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming lane closures.  To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zone.

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - The Warren County Engineer's Office has closed Bethany road east of Pinnacle Drive in Deerfield Township due to unsafe washout from the recent rain showers.

The bridge is about halfway between Butler-Warren and Mason-Montgomery Roads.

The Engineer's office is asking motorists to be careful as they approach the detour, which will use Mason-Montgomery Road, Main Street (US 42), Mason Road, and Butler-Warren Road.

Crews are on the scene and the road will be repaired and open for traffic as soon as possible.

OSHKOSH, WI (FOX19) - The Experimental Aircraft Association, Inc. has announced that Zarrick Conner of Burlington, KY has been accepted to attend the EAA Basic Air Academy 2012 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The EAA Air Academy offers young people the opportunity to meet and work with aviation professionals, while living and learning the arts, sciences, and lore of aviation in both classroom and workshop settings.  They join many other young people, ages 14-15, in this aviation program.

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - As part of the Bethany Road Improvements project, Melampy Creek Lane will be closed Monday, January 16, and Ivy Grove Lane will be closed Tuesday, January 17.

Both closures are for the final connecting of the water main being installed and are during daytime hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting. All detours will be posted and will utilize Mason-Montgomery Road, US 42, Mason Road, and Butler-Warren Road.

Warren County Engineer offers good news, then a pinch of bad news

 

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - As part of the Bethany Road Improvements Project, Melampy Creek Lane, closed for water main work, opened Wednesday, January 4, 2012, but now Ivy Grove Lane is closing for two (2) days, weather permitting. That closure is also for water main work.

All detours will be posted and will use Mason-Montgomery Road, US 42, Mason Road, and Butler-Warren Road.

NTSB releases preliminary information on Lebanon-Warren Airport crash

 

WASHINGTON, DC (FOX19) - The National Transportation Safety board has released preliminary information on the air crash last Wednesday near the Lebanon-Warren Airport in Turtlecreek Township.

The crash happened when a plane that had just launched with four people aboard got in trouble and was flying low when it hit power lines, trees, and the ground between a couple of houses a few blocks from the airport.  Three people had minor injuries, but the pilot's wife, Catherine Bowles, was very seriously hurt and is still in the hospital.

The report says the pilot told the FAA door popped open on the plane's passenger side, causing him to try to head back to the airport, then to try to land in a field.
