Warren County offers heating bill help

LEBANON (FOX19) - People in Warren County who are running out of heat may be able to get help from Warren County Community Services.

The agency provides help for people with limited income who face disconnection of their primary or secondary heating source, have already had service disconnected, or have less than a 10-day supply of bulk fuel.

The federally funded "E-HEAP Winter Crisis Program" is accepting applications and will continue doing so until the end of March.  The programs are administered by the WCCS HEAP office.   Households with incomes at or below 200% of the 2010 Federal Poverty Guidelines can apply.   This works out to about $44,000 for a family of four, an amount that applies to many Warren County homes.  Higher and lower limits exist for other family sizes.

People needing help from this or other programs can call toll-free at 1-866-747-1042 for an appointment.

Preparing Your Mailbox for Winter

Lebanon, Ohio (Fox19)– Each winter poses a threat to your roadside mailbox either because of snow drifts, vehicle incidents, or snowplow damage. Neil F. Tunison, the Warren County Engineer, in conjunction with local area US Postal Service would like to encourage all residents of Warren County to take some precautions this year in stabilizing their mailbox for the winter season.

Residents are encouraged to inspect their mailbox for any repairs it may need. For any mailbox located by the road, there is risk of damage caused by snow plows. Damage may also not be caused by contact with snow plow but by heavy wet snow being thrown off the plow. When inspecting your mailbox check and repair any weaknesses you may see such as rotten wood, deterioration, and/ or cracks in the post as well as leaning of the mailbox.

Damage to mailboxes resulting from snow plowing will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
